Juneau Mountain Rescue

Juneau Mountain Rescue, Inc. is a volunteer, nonprofit, educational corporation dedicated to providing technical search and rescue, outdoor rescue, and safety training for the Southeast Alaska regional area, as well as nationally and globally as needed since 1982. As a team fully-accredited by the Mountain Rescue Association in wilderness search, technical rescue, and avalanche response, JMR will respond to requests by state and federal agencies for assistance with SAR 24hrs per day-7days per week, 365 days per year, including SAR missions involving wilderness search, technical rope rescue (on steep rock, ice, snow, glacier), avalanche response, medical evacuation, aircraft crashes and disasters.

SEADOGS is a volunteer nonprofit search and rescue organization dedicated to training and handling search dogs for search and rescue. The team works closely with other search and rescue groups, and is responsible to the Alaska State Troopers. Certified (Callout list) Handlers are on 24-hour call, and can be available within 40 minutes or less of notification for a search. SEADOGS has been in operation for 31 years and is recognized nationally and internationally.

Sitka Mountain Rescue has been organized and active within the City and Borough of Sitka since the early 1960’s. The team is an all-volunteer team and currently has 37 active operational members on the roster.

 

Sitka Search and Rescue is a group of volunteers dedicated to providing wilderness safety education to the public, and prompt, professional emergency services for people who are lost, injured, stranded, or in need of rescue. You will find that this team is comprised of a group of people who are dedicated to saving lives and serving our community. The team is committed to providing the highest level of response and readiness to any wilderness emergency within the City and Borough of Sitka and Southeast Alaska.

 

Sitka SAR has a full Incident Management Team that specializes in land and marine based search management, a K-9 resource that provides track/trail as well as air scent dogs, a Mountain Rescue group that specializes in technical rescue, and clue aware ground searchers that have been trained in all aspects of Search and Rescue. The team has achieved and maintained full accreditation status in the Mountain Rescue Association.
